We are excited to announce that we have recently appointed Iolanda Chirico as our interim Operations Manager.

Iolanda is the Founder of the Refugee Café charity and was previously our Chair. She has undertaken many of our operational activities to date. Along with setting up the organisation, Iolanda has overseen the creation of our products through working closely with our chefs, organised our volunteers and has led many of our events. She has supported a number of refugees through paid and voluntary opportunities with us.

This role is a natural progression for her and we hope over the coming months she will make a significant impact.

Iolanda said on her appointment:

“I am passionate about fulfilling the Refugee Cafe’s goals including raising awareness, ensuring refugees can play an active role in the community and providing employment and training for refugees. I look forward to developing our activities further over the coming months and to make progress towards identifying a physical café as well as strengthening and developing partnerships. I am delighted about the level of support there is locally for our charity as shown by our overwhelmingly successive Crowdfunding Campaign earlier this year. We are spurred and inspired to make the physical Cafe a reality”

Azi Arman, interim Chair of the Refugee Café said:

“We are delighted to make this appointment. Iolanda as chair and founder has made a vast contribution to the charity which we are grateful for. In her new role we are confident she will oversee an increase in our activities including the launch of our training programme, work with partner organisations to reach potential beneficiaries and help to identify a long term location for the Refugee Café.”

The Refugee Café trustees are currently advertising for a new Chair of Trustees.
